I told you guys I would be encourage for UFC 101, well here I am! once again there are spoilers in this review so I don’t wanna hear any crybabies this time around! I am only reviewing four of the fights that happened on pay-perveiw, this in no device has anything to do with the upcoming dvd release of the event! Oh and these fights may no be in order either!

So lets initiate with Sadollah V Hendricks, I was contented to sight Amir in the ring finally after such a long hiatus, but it was short lived as Hendricks caught him in the 1st round slippin. Amir went down but seemed to be coherent, but the ref didn’t judge he was okay and stopped the fight at 29 seconds in the first round, unprejudiced as Sadollah was getting up. Personally I understanding he was okay and the ref should have waited a slight longer, but hey it happens!

Next we have Grove V Almeida, I’ve been watching Kendall since TUF 3 and am always inflamed to peep him fight! Ricardo on the other hand is dull to me, unfortunately generous fortune wasn’t with Kendall as Ricardo’s pick downs were to worthy for Grove as Almeida grinded out a 3 round unamious decision to pick up the bout and not in bewitching fashion what so ever, but hey like my boss say “It is what it is!”.

Now for the co main event which was phenomenal, Griffin V Silva. The hype for this fight was outta control as alot of people gave Forrest a marvelous chance due to the fact that he always does great as the underdog, which he most certainly was in this match up. What happened next was the most embarassing fight I have every seen as Silva dodge every swing Forrest threw, countered with precision shots and totally 150% dominated abominable abominable Forrest. At one point Silva even extended a helping hand to Griffin to support him stand support up after he knocked him down. To top it all Silva knocked Forrest out with a counter punch while abet pedaling in the first round. After Griffin got up he ran out of the ring and I would guess out of the whole damn arena, bad Forrest.

And last but not least Penn V Florian 2. I was amped up for this fight because I like both fighters and I really opinion Kenny had built up enough skill to finally dethrone the Lightweight Champ. Unfortunately his skill region was not up to par with Penn’s as Bj wore Florian down round after round to finally lift him by rear naked choke in the 4th.

Overall this was a sizable night of fights and I definetly with confidence give this a star more than I gave UFC 100, if you missed this event manufacture determined to prefer up the dvd release as soon as it comes out, trust me you won’t be dissapointed especially if you conception the previous event didnt live up to the hype!

Well this film is not a tickled one, but what you survey will surprise you. A reporter, his work and how admire could near in a gain you’re not expecting. The coarse reality.

In my belief a really favorable film, recomended.

En esta pelicula Sergio Cabrera nor muestra nuevamente porque es uno de los mejores directores colombianos del momento. baso en el libro de Santiago Gamboa, es un reflejo de un pais donde macondo y las situaciones ridiculas son algo de todos los dias

Apparently the minute genius town of Eureka hasn’t quite hurry out of disasters yet, even with the destruction of the Artifact.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Eureka – Season Two! Click Here

In fact, Eureka’s problems collect worse as the show’s writing becomes better, starting with the citizens bursting into flame. The second season of “Eureka” is more confident and well-balanced than the previous one, and it takes the characters, quirky humor and tight writing into brand-new territory. Including Carter walking around naked.

The timeline has been restored, and Carter (Colin Ferguson) and Henry (Joe Morton) are trying to adjust to their past lives. Carter also is convinced that the future will unfold unbiased as it did in the other timeline.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Eureka – Season Two! Click Here

But during a solar flare viewing, a guy violently combusts — and soon other people begin combusting. Carter searches for a link between the victims, and finds that someone arrive him may be next. Meanwhile, the Pentagon decides to recall Nathan Stark (Ed Quinn) from Global Dynamics’ tall chair, and replace him with his estranged wife Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) . My, that’s awkward.

Other problems pop up over the season — shared dreams, personal forcefields, “ice funnels of death,” falling debris clouds attracted to the GD headquarters, invisibility projects, Fargo’s frozen grandpa, Biblical plagues, Carter becoming unnaturally splendid to all women, and an attempt to recreate the Mammoth Bang that apparently turns everyone (except Carter) into driveling idiots.

But while the Artifact has been effectively destroyed, its presence is collected felt — Allison’s autistic son Kevin has formed a unique connection to it. And when a intelligent scientist creates a deadly alchemical bacterium — which turns all iron into gold, then rust — it may lead to a showdown over Kevin’s future….

There’s a darker novel running through the second season of “Eureka” — Henry is more subdued and terrified, and a tiny boy’s life is in disaster. But don’t grief, because thankfully the writers don’t switch too far into the dusky zone — the focus is always first and foremost on our Everyman Sheriff, and how he tries to deal with the Horrific Crisis of the day.

In fact, the second season flows very easily, with a more relaxed slump and a colourful, diverse array of science-based problems — including robot geese. There’s lots of spacious dialogue (“Jo made it seem like the sky is falling.” “That hasn’t happened since 2004, and that was more of an igniting of the ionosphere”) and hilarious comedic moments, such as Carter’s naked public shower and the shared Zorro fantasy. But there are some sweet moments too, such as Fargo’s grandfather coming to terms with the life he missed out on.

I wasn’t too impressed by Ferguson in “Eureka’s” debut season, but he really gets to blossom in this one — he’s quirkier, cuter and has a knack for physical comedy. He fits in better with the Eurekans. And he brings a lot of life to Jack’s problems, whether it’s the queer stuff, or the more realistic threat of his ex-wife taking his daughter out of Eureka.

Quinn and Richardson Whitfield also do well, as Allison and Nathan try to adjust to their original positions, as well as some renewed sparks. And the other characters earn rounding out — Jo gets in touch with her inner girly-girl, Zoe clashes with some genius “mean girls,” Taggart has a maternal experience, and Fargo gets in touch with some family members. Also has to deal with the possibility of dying.

Of particular note: Morton brings a feeling of dismal pathos into many of Henry’s appearances, reminding us what he’s lost and leaving us wondering what he’s planning. And it’s worth noting that a trio of “Stargate SG-1″ actors earn some very solid guest appearances — particularly Michael Shanks as an embittered, myth-obsessed scientist.

The second season of “Eureka” sticks to the laughable sci-fi angle, but expands the characters — as well as some of the darker subplots. Definitely a grand petite series, and promises to end fun and suspenseful.

If you relish a kindly deal of comedy with your SciFi you will probably appreciate Eureka. There certainly are plenty of serious events, but with a regular mix of comedy to maintain things from getting to unlit. Kind of like the X-Files which had plenty of serious episodes but then were visited by original people including “The Lone Gunmen” to maintain things in perspective. The second season is a must have for anyone that bought the first. This season continues the investigation of the alien artifact along with the further emersion of Sheriff Jack Carter and Zoe into Eureka’s community.

Many of the budding relationships have now fizzled and original ones have began that may seem less weird or more depending on your perspective. This is not high brow SciFi for the most piece although some of the ideas are based on conceivable research. Eureka is a town of Mensa types that have their have projects and inventions that they get. It seems they aren’t under the same rules as the rest the country so anything can happen when their experiaments go nasty. Ample quality DVDs and respectable replayability, but I’m level-headed not crazy about cardboard fold up conceal.

It is poor that this collection of Universal Dracula films were only released in this mega-DVD collection as a means of promoting the film Van Helsing, but the distinguished thing is that they were released – including the inimitably queer House of Dracula on DVD for the first time. This collection inspired its beget kind of bloodlust in my Dracula-loving heart, and I imagine all fans of Dracula and Universal’s classic monsters movies of the 30s and 40s have either already purchased this position or are saving up the money to do so. Fair discover at the bounty of riches included here: the unique 1931 classic Dracula starring Bela Lugosi, which you can plan with both its fresh obtain as well as the current procure peaceful by Philip Glass and performed by the Kronos Quartet; the astounding and technically obliging Spanish language version of Dracula; Dracula’s Daughter (1936) ; Son of Dracula (1943) starring Lon Chaney, Jr.; House of Dracula (1945) ; an unusual documentary, The Road to Dracula, discussing the making of the English and Spanish versions of the new film; a commentary by film historian David J. Skal on the fresh film; theatrical trailers for the films; and, last and certainly least, a recognize at how the current Dracula franchise influenced director Stephen Sommers in the making of his current film Van Helsing.

I waited a long time to leer the Spanish version of the Dracula, and it lived up to its reputation. A remarkable more complete and compelling version of the film, aided by an additional half hour running time, this movie equals or excels the English language version of the film in all ways – except, of course, for the performance of Bela Lugosi, who simply is Count Dracula. As for the Lugosi version, I’m torn between the two scores. As a traditionalist, I tend to favor the novel pick up, but definite scenes, particularly those enthralling Dracula’s predatory arrive to his victims are made distinguished more much with the addition of the Glass bag. Either method, though, Bela Lugosi is the main attraction, and his iconic performance defines Count Dracula to this very day.

The three Dracula sequels vary in quality, none of them living up to the reputation of the unique. Dracula’s Daughter takes the epic in an challenging direction, giving us a vampire who seeks benefit in freeing herself of the Dracula curse, and Gloria Holden gives a formidable and nuanced performance as the daughter of the Count. Son of Dracula, on the other hand, attractive great lays an egg in my view. The only appealing thing about this movie is the debate over the proper identity of the Count – is he Dracula? the son of Dracula? a relative of Dracula? In the extinguish, it really doesn’t matter, but it seems certain that the blood of Bela Lugosi’s Count Dracula certainly doesn’t speed in the veins of “Count Alucard” because this unusual bloodsucker on the block isn’t the smartest vampire in the castle. Many Dracula fans will of course be aware of the fact that Lon Chaney, Sr., was the new choice to play Dracula in the 1931 film; his death opened the map for the relatively unknown Bela Lugosi to recall on the role he had already played hundreds of time on stage. In Son of Dracula, Lon Chaney, Jr., gets the chance to don the cape; Chaney earned his plot of fame in the Universal monster pantheon, but he didn’t accumulate it as the Count – his performance is nothing short of dead, aided not one iota by a surprisingly old script from the hand of Curt Siodmak.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dracula – The Legacy Collection (Dracula / Dracula! Click Here

The addition of House of Dracula to The Dracula Legacy Collection is a very tall deal, for this is the first time this film has found its scheme to DVD. House of Dracula is a really curious film, as this sequel of sorts to House of Frankenstein features not only Count Dracula, but Frankenstein’s monster and the Wolf Man as well. John Carradine plays a quite pedestrian Count Dracula, while Lon Chaney, Jr., plays the Wolf Man; Frankenstein’s monster is played by Glenn Unusual, but the monster plays only the most minor of roles in the fable. The action takes status in Vasaria (wherever that is), where Dr. Franz Edelman (Onslow Stevens) is pursuing his possess rather wacky scientific experiments, placing astronomical hope on some current kind of spore he is growing in his private diminutive hothouse. Both Count Dracula and Larry Talbot (the Wolf Man) near seeking his help; Talbot’s wish to banish the Wolf Man manifestation from his life is understandable, but Dracula’s reasons for seeking support are never made sure. In the course of trying to back these two special patients, Edelman runs into the body of Frankenstein’s monster in a cave underneath his sanitarium (in a rather ho-hum fashion, no less) . As you might request, this association with three monsters turns out to be a terrible thing, leaving Edelman in a lovely poor fix himself. It’s somewhat difficult to assume this movie seriously, but it does provide some wacky trustworthy fun in a campy sort of method.

There is a itsy-bitsy risk enthusiastic with purchasing The Dracula Legacy Collection, but the rewards are worth the risk. Objective be careful opening the case – even if both of the DVDs (one of which is double-sided) remain in space, you are likely to glean a puny knob underneath each one fair dying for the chance to scratch a disc.

THE DRACULA LEGACY collection is a nice package including the new DRACULA starring Bela Lugosi in an iconic movie that endures on. Also included are the Spainish version of DRACULA (shot on the same sets at night as Bela’s version!), the sequels — DRACULA’S DAUGHTER, SON OF DRACULA, and HOUSE OF DRACULA (all three monsters exhibit up for the finale) . You secure five movies, and some gigantic extras. Like many reviewers I found one disc rolling around the inside of the package. Fortunately it was not scratched! That’s the only downside to these collections I have found.

You salvage the 1931 modern appearance of a cinematic DRACULA! With two soundtrack options – listen to it in its novel almost restful version, or chose the revamped Phillip Glass soundtrack version. Todd Browning who directed this classic was foremost a still film maker, and DRACULA was designed to be shown in theatres with and without sound. So its almost creepier and more effective to perceive it with its long spooky silences intact. But Glass is a large musician, and I be pleased his soundtrack as well. It really depends on mood. And for fun check out the SPAINISH version which obsolete the same sets. Beautifully shot, and considered by some technically safe to Browning’s film! It uses more camera moves and visual effects.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dracula – The Legacy Collection (Dracula / Dracula! Click Here

The other films are a string of B sequels that are composed a lot of fun. Gloria Holden as DRACULA’S DAUGHTER is surprisingly creepy and troublingly lesbian in tone. She only attacks women! SON OF DRACULA is campy fun with Lon Chaney Jr. sailing through smokey swamps. HOUSE OF DRACULA is the ultimate monster mash with Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and Dracula making appearances in this last sequel to the Universal monster franchise before they all appeared in an Abbot and Costello movie that killed them for a while.

But they live on! My only beef with the extras is one where Stephen Sommers talks about how DRACULA influenced VAN HELSING. I don’t want to tie my 1931 version of a classic to this year’s Summer Hit. But in a design it proves …

This movie is an honorable time-capsule for the ruin of the slack ’50’s/early’60’s rock n’ roll era. (It came out in 1963, unprejudiced a few months before the Beatles hit our shores & changed everything forever.)

It’s got everything:

A spoof of middle-class American values, check!

I was born too slow to experience this time period & I haven’t actually seen the Broadway unusual from 1960 with Chita Rivera in the Janet Leigh role. But this movie is a fast-paced, witty musical-comedy. I know the 1995 version sticks closer to the novel record, but I consider that version plays too considerable into the whole “nostalgia”-thing….an element that was NOT a share of any indicate actually made benefit then. That version was also boring & not very comical.

This version is tall! A lot has been said about the music, but the comedy hasn’t got powerful attention. The humor manages to be suggestive without being rude. It’s kind of like reading an former bid of Enraged Magazine, but this is acted out!

If you want laughs every second, grand songs & mountainous dancing, as well as a silly examine as to what American attitudes were like succor then, then this 1963 version is for you!

It’s “Honestly Steady!”

I actually played “Kim” in my middle schools rendition of Bye Bye birdie, and since then, this has been my absolute celebrated musical of all time – I’m obvious this is partly due to my broad memories of being in this play, but regardless of that, the songs are enormous and I esteem the yarn line.

Bye Bye Birdie is about an Elvis-type guy who has honest got word that he’s being drafted into the army. Because of his popularity as a singer, they choose to speed a contest where 1 lucky girl will be chosen to have “one last kiss” with him. Kim wins the contest, and will be given her kiss live on the Ed Sulliven Indicate (a demonstrate that was really accepted in the 1950’s) .

Much of the fable surrounds the excitement about Kim winning the contest & the fact that her father and boyfriend don’t want the kiss to happen. Will they be able to close it?

Then there’s “Albert” played by Dick Van Dyke – an on & off again songwriter, and his girlfriend “Rosie” who wants nothing more than for Albert to propose to her. Unfortunately, Albert is such a “mommas boy” that he can’t seem to perform any decisions for himself, and his mother is not about to suggest that he secure married and leave her all alone! Will he ever step up and pop the put a question to?

Overall, I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys musicals. It will remind you of a distinguished simpler time – with the music and outfits in classic 1950’s style. A enormous movie for “family night”!

This DVD is a amazing sample of an often dissed rocker – Alice Cooper, who Bob Dylan has said is a greatly underappreciated song writer. I saw this tour in Chicago – Suzi Quattro opened – and the DVD’s performance night has Alice perhaps a puny more the worse for wear. Nevertheless this DVD shows a broad performer backed by a amazing band (who, I have, also played on “Rock n Roll Animal”) . Alice’s red jump suit and saber, the monsters, the colors and lights are Alice during his lengthy prime; when he lets out “welcome to my breakdown – I hope I didn’t terror you” with his trademark seek shivers urge down my spine.

Alice’s greatness, to me, rests on his sublimely novel image, his broad hard rocking, his entertaining melodies and the sympathy and sensitivity that he projects amid an often nightmare world. This is all amply demonstrated on this DVD. For my generation, raised on the British Invasion followed by California and Modern York psychedelics, Alice represents the last substantial, truly novel rock. Noteworthy comely music has followed, but these were the Founding Fathers.

This DVD preserves for posterity ALICE COOPER’s awesome stage indicate (concert does not really do this thing justice) circa 1975! This was as THEATRICAL as things got support then, boys and girls! ALICE was at the height of his popularity and the band performs 15 of their biggest SHOCK-ROCK hits, such as “School’s Out,” “I’m Eighteen,” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy”! They call this one “Welcome to My Nightmare” but I always believe of this as the “Billion Dollar Babies” tour! But even beyond the CONCERT ROCK sound there is the make-up! The props! The SPECIAL EFFECTS! All of which made VINCENT FURNIER one of the big rock and roll SHOWMEN of all time! Even better, this DVD has INTERVIEWS and AUDIO COMMENTARY!

Bill Maher has been one of the best comedians since aid in his extinct Saturday Night Live heyday, but it’s with Politically Unsuitable and later with HBO’s prove, it really has sharpened his skills to slice through the hypocrisy, kills the spin-doctors with something you rarely gaze these days – accepted sense! Bill wears many hats, political analyst, a formidable debater, social conscious for the political arena, religion and the world status. You may not always agree with him, but then maybe that is not Bill’s aim. He provokes people to judge, to search for beyond the garbage spewed by media grabbers.

Thanks goodness for Bill’s caring, his determination not to let us all net snowed under by hyperbole, rhetoric and flood of misinformation, and making us laugh while doing it.

I don’t always agree with what Bill Maher says, but I’m one of those people who is always blissful he says it. But I found myself agreeing with a lot more of what he says in this explain than the type of things he said on Politically Improper. And his unusual note on HBO seems to be more on the designate as well. Maybe it’s the freedom that comes with HBO and not working for Disney. Whatever your political slant, you’d have to be magnificent uptight about your beliefs to not laugh at this special. With Dennis Miller turning into a bizarre infomercial for the Republican Party, Bill is really the only comedian (place maybe George Carlin) doing this kind of provacative material. And I say this as a registered Republican, too.

Compare Prices on Easy Rider

“Easy Rider” directed by Dennis Hopper, produced by Peter Fonda and written by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern was a gross budget film ($340 titanic) that surprisingly became a box office break. The legend is about two hippys (Fonda & Hopper) who grasp choppers with cash they’ve gotten from a drug deal. They prance ghastly country heading to Louisianna (to Mardi Gras) and on their method meeting different people, visiting a commune of hippys, ending up in jail, going to a brothel, taking acid etc. The ending was disturbing in 1969 and smooth is, even in these days of non-stop violence in our country. This 35th Anniversary Edition is identical to the regular dvd version of “Easy Rider” with the accurate same bonus material “The Making-Of Documentary “Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage” (feat. interviews with Fonda, Hopper, etc.) and an audio commentary by Dennis Hopper plus production notes. The bonuses for this 35th Anniversary Edition are a cd which includes eight songs (do not confuse this cd with the dependable “Easy Rider Soundtrack” as it is not) . The songs are “Born To Be Wild” – Steppenwolf, “The Weight” – Smith, “Nights In White Satin” – The Morose Blues, “Wasn’t Born To Follow” – The Byrds, “San Francisco Nights” – Eric Burden And The Animals, “The Pusher” – Steppenwolf, “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) ” – Roger McGuinn and “Salvage Together” – The Youngbloods. The 80 page book “Easy Rider” by Lee Hill is gripping and includes all you’ll ever want to know about the film. The bottom line is, if you already have the regular dvd of “Easy Rider” I’d pass on this 35th Anniversary Edition. Of course, if you don’t beget this classic film it may be worth the extra cash for the bonus cd and book.

I bought this title because I am a motorcyclist. If you have never ridden one and want to know what it is like, this movie will buy you on a virtual road lope from Los Angeles through dazzling mountain scenery down to Mardi Gras in Novel Orleans. The two stars, Peter Fonda (Wyatt) and Dennis Hopper (Billy), head out on the highway to the motorcycle anthem, “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, and there are some improbable camera shots of them crossing the Colorado River. If that scene doesn’t secure your blood pumping, then you can be assured that motorcycling isn’t for you.

There’s a lot more to this movie than fair scenic motorcycling and sixties music. A typical biker movie has a musty region, usually spirited some gang terrorizing the local community. Before creating this movie, Fonda and Jack Nicholson (George), as well as some of the other cast members all appeared in such flicks. By incompatibility, “Easy Rider” is really a mold-breaker for its type, because it involves a lot of social commentary.

Early in the movie, Billy and Wyatt purchase up a stranger along the highway, who turns out to be the leader of a commune. He is a uninteresting ringer for John Lennon, when he had his Sgt. Pepper scrutinize. Wyatt and the stranger rep along well, but Billy is suspicious of the hitchhiker. They recall him aid to his commune and hang out for awhile there with the people. Wyatt fits in OK, but Billy is not generally respected. Many of them produce fun of Billy. For some time, this was very hard for me to tale for, since Billy is a freak.

I did not catch any insights into this until I read the book, “Riders On the Storm” by Doors’ drummer, John Densmore. In it, he explains how the Doors, who were from Los Angeles, were not invited to play the Monterey Pop Festival. San Francisco flower power was about peace and cherish, and Jim Morrison, the lead singer, gave off an aggressive vibe. Densmore also said that some notorious flower power musicians did not want to be publicly associated with The Doors. For instance, John Sebastian agreed to play harmonica on “Roadhouse Blues,” but he would not allow his staunch name to be old in the credits. I occupy that the incompatibility in values between Los Angeles and San Francisco is crucial to concept why Billy was rejected by the commune members.

Wyatt and Billy are not from San Francisco, and they do not wear psychedelic clothing. They hail from Los Angeles, and they are preoccupied with freedom–not peace and cherish. Billy has a genuine aggressive vibe to him. He is very confrontational, and he doesn’t fetch along well with others. Wyatt is more of a seeker. He is open-minded and involved in what other people have to offer. They’re both rich, but not through accurate or reputable means. They smuggled some cocaine across the border from Baja, Mexico, and then they sold it for a tremendous profit. The two are friends, and they seem to have approved each others strengths and weaknesses.

The movie makes some certain statements about sixties social values and morals. In other cases, it brings up issues, but doesn’t near any firm conclusions. The movie ends tragically, but it isn’t an indictment of flower power. Billy had rejected peace and appreciate, and had he not reacted in the confrontational manner that he did, things might have turned out differently. This movie is about the tradgedy and failure of hate–and the need for peace, esteem, and belief. I give this movie a five-star rating because it documents the issues of the times so effectively. As a motorcycle movie, this production is practically unbeatable because it has captured the spirit of motorcycling so well.

“Thoroughly Fresh Millie” is a reminder that once upon a time in Hollywood singing stars made B-musicals. Here is a classic example from the career of Julie Andrews that reminds us her career was not all mega-hits like “Sound of Music” and super-flops like “Star.” Unfortunately for lovers of musicals Hollywood stopped marking movies like this, leaving singing stars with Olivia Newton-John with a crash like “Grease” and a bomb like “Xanadu” with nothing in between. I also have fond memories of “Thorough Current Millie” because it was a movie that was shown to us in class in high school; the reason why we were allowed this privilege is beyond me, unless we were supposed to acquire an appreciation of the Roaring Twenties from this film (so why did they prove us the new version of “The Blob? “) .

Our flapper heroine is Millie Dillmount (Andrews), who has decided to be a “mod” and turned in her long curls for a stylish bob. Her goal in life is to marry her boss and after interviewing several possibilities she hits the jackpot with Trevor Graydon (John Gavin), who hires her as his stenog and calls Millie “John” (as in “Johnny on the location”) . Millie likes young Jimmy (James Fox), who impresses her by inventing a fresh dance called the Tapioca and being a swell kisser, but he is terrible and Millie has her ambitions. Millie’s best gal-al is Miss Dorothy (Mary Tyler Moore), who is sweet, innocent, and has lots of curls.

However, the life of Millie and her friends are caught between two imposing characters. At the hotel for young women where Millie lives there is Mrs. Meers (Beatrice Lillie), who is always looking out for young girls who are “all alone in the world,” like Miss Dorothy, who could be of spend to a Chinese White Slavery ring. But Millie also encounters an unstoppable force for life in the person of the irrepressible Muzzy (Carol Channing), who lives the gracious life at her Long Island “Cottage” estate and pops up at key moments throughout the chronicle.

The movie is not a spacious musical, mainly because it does not have any really enormous songs (as evidenced by the fact that the new Broadway musical has almost entirely modern songs), but it is quiet sizable fun. Director George Roy Hill takes advantage of Andrews’ amusing flair and the film has broad fun with her double takes and laughable title cards as Millie periodically comments on the proceedings. The movie does exhaust stereotypes of the Chinese, but you have to admit these are balanced between the humorous relief of Mrs. Meers’ henchmen (Jack Soo and Pat Morita) and the wise conventional Tea (Philip Ahn) .

“Thoroughly Original Millie” won an Oscar for music and Channing was nominated for supporting role (she won a Golden Globe for her efforts, were clearly tailored to her style) . But Lillie is a delight as well and I personally be pleased Gavin’s mock-heroic performance. Moore unbiased has to sight sweet, although she does fetch to say a terrible word (!), and Fox is charming although clearly too young for Andrews. Unfortunately the debacle of “Star” attractive remarkable derailed Andrews’ musical career in Hollywood, which is a loss because the laughable flair she shows here is the same that she showcased in films like “Victor, Victoria” a couple of decades later. The first-rate news is that the Broadway reveal will bring this film help to the public’s notice; I am definite that is the reason I have spent the morning observe the film on TV.

Julie Andrews. Carol Channing. Mary Tyler Moore. Beatrice Lillie. What a cast!

THOROUGHLY Unusual MILLIE (TMM) is a hoot. Director George Roy Hill keeps the perambulate rapidly and the mood light. He has Julie Andrews explore into the camera often for humorous execute. Usually a still movie card is flashed onscreen when she does this, telling the audience Millie’s thoughts (“Her beads hang straight.”)

The characters are broadly drawn, which makes the movie fun. Beatrice Lillie is the arch-villainess, and her severe makeup and beehive hairdo are hilarious. Mary Tyler Moore strikes the fair chord as the virginal Miss Dorothy.

There are several highlights for me: The opening number when Millie changes from ‘plain Jane’ to ‘thoroughly modern’; any time a character has to dance in the tempermental elevator to form it go up or down; “Jazz Baby” with Carol Channing.

About the disc: The print of TMM doesn’t inspect that pleasurable. The movie was released in 1967, so it’s over 35 years customary. Some of the special-effects shots (even the wipes and transition scenes) leer grainy. The colors could be more vibrant. This is probably the best print in existence, unexcited one wishes the quality were better. The sound tended to ‘peak’ in sections too.

TMM fans will be pleased to know that the overture and intermission music have been restored.

TMM is a amusing, engaging, weak film with vast performances. Julie Andrews seems to be having a stout time vamping it up. Indulge In it!
